What would happen if I did not get paid for my gig?

We offer support through our Contract Defense Fund to assist musicians who haven’t been paid for their services.

If you have a claim against an engager for unpaid fees, you can apply for an interest-free advance from the fund, equal to the minimum basic scale fees as outlined in the current TMA Tariff of Fees.

To be eligible for an advance from the fund, the following conditions must be met:

• All musicians involved in the gig must have been members in good standing at the time of the engagement.

• The musicians must have performed the work as outlined in the contract.

• A properly executed TMA Live Performance Contract must have been filed with the TMA fourteen days before the engagement.

• A TMA Contract Defense Fund application must be filed with TMA.

We will handle filing the claim on your behalf, but your cooperation will be required throughout the process. Any settlement funds received will be distributed to the musicians, minus the Contract Defense Fund advance and any legal fees incurred by TMA.

All requests for assistance are subject to approval by the TMA Board of Directors.
