TMA Financial Assistance
TMA Benevolent Funds
The Toronto Musicians’ Association (TMA) has established three benevolent funds to support members facing financial hardship. These funds are designed to provide relief during times of illness, injury, or other challenging circumstances.
Health, Education and Welfare Fund (HEW)
The HEW Fund offers financial assistance to members who have lost work due to illness or injury. Members can apply for aid for up to twelve weeks per year, with a maximum of two consecutive years. This fund helps ensure that musicians have some financial security during recovery.
Member Assistance Fund (MAF)
For those who have reached the HEW Fund’s limits, the MAF provides an additional safety net. Members can apply for assistance for up to twenty-four weeks per year, again with a maximum of two consecutive years. In exceptional cases, special consideration may be granted for further support.
Life Member Benevolent Fund (LMBF)
The LMBF ensures that TMA Life Members, who may struggle to pay their annual dues, can retain their membership. This fund offers a 100% subsidy for dues, allowing members to remain part of the TMA community without financial burden.
